Recombinant Hepatitis vaccine
Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is associated with acute hepatitis disease, which may lead to chronic disease particularly in immunocompromised individuals. The HEV is endemic in southeast and central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa and with reported sporadic cases of HEV and outbreaks occurs worldwide. The disease is particularly severe among pregnant women (20–30% mortality). There is no licensed vaccine is currently available in India for immunisation. The company is developing a potential recombinant vaccine together with other partner institutions under the support from DBT, Govt of India. Company is also working towards a novel HAV in combination with others.
RABIES vaccine
Rabies is a deadly virus spread to people from the saliva of infected animals. The rabies virus is usually transmitted through a bite. Animals most likely to transmit rabies. While vaccines for rabies available for decades the concern still remain on its safety and efficacies and well as the cost of its production. At VaxFarm we are exploring the possibilities for developing a cost effective vaccine without compromising its safety and efficacies.
CHIKUNGUNYA Virus Vaccines
Chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes to humans. The word 'chikungunya' means 'that which bends up', an allusion to the posture of the suffering patients. The most common clinical form associates fever, arthralgia and rash.Chikungunya a Arboviruses (arthropod-borne) that encompass hundreds of members and span multiple viral families making it one of the most genetically diverse, widespread, and dangerous groups of viruses on earth.Currently, there is no licensed vaccine available. Several technologies have been used to develop CHIK vaccines, including inactivated viral vaccines, live-attenuated viruses, alphavirus chimeras, recombinant viral vaccines, consensus-based DNA vaccines, recombinant subunit vaccines and more recently, a virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine. VaxFarm Life Sciences will be developing a new Chikungunya vaccine which is expected to be highly potent against Chikungunya virus.
Animal Healthcare
Sheep PoX vaccine
Sheep Pox is a highly contagious disease of sheep caused by a poxvirus. This virus is in the family Poxviridae and genus Capripoxvirus. Sheep Pox virus (SPV) is the most severe of all the animal pox diseases and can result in some of the most significant economic consequences due to poor wool and leather quality. Vaccines are given to animals at a distantly located village settings which often lacks proper storage and the cold chain causing damage to the vaccine potency. Company is trying to develop a potentially effective inactivated thermostable vaccine.
Goat Pox vaccine
Goat Pox is also a highly contagious disease of sheep caused by a Pox Virus. This virus is in the family Poxviridae and genus Capripoxvirus. Goat Pox virus (GPV) is the most severe pox virus that affects goats. The virus usually spreads via the respiratory system, and sometimes spreads through abraded skin. Vaccines are given to animals at a distantly located village settings which often lacks proper storage and the cold chain causing damage to the vaccine potency. Company is trying to develop a potentially effective inactivated thermostable vaccine.
Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) vaccine
PPR, also known as'Goat Plague', is a viral disease of goats and sheep characterized by fever, sores in the mouth, diarrhoea, pneumonia, and death. It is caused by a morbillivirus in the family of paramyxoviruses that is related to rinderpest, measles and canine distemper. There are sero variants across the region within India and beyond. Therefore it is difficult to brand a particular vaccine with a single serotype as the best and most effective for across the region. We at Vaxfarm working towards addressing such issues to make one which could potentially be protective against others as well.
Combination Vacccine for SPV,GPV & PPRV
A Combination Vaccine is required worldwide to prevent diseases and save poor farmers livelihood. While there are several advantages such as fewer shots, lesser cost, lower logistic challenge leading to more effective immunization, it is important to ensure that the combination vaccine is as safe and effective as each of the individual vaccines and gives no less inferior immune response when given separately. As on date, no combination vaccine is available for SPV, SPV and PPR together. Early delivery of such a combination vaccine will give a big boost in the immunization program.
